Philosophy of Care

Dr. Wang is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care tailored to the unique needs and goals of each individual. He partners closely with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans and incorporates the latest evidence-based therapies and clinical research opportunities whenever appropriate. His goal is to provide advanced cancer care with empathy, clarity, and respect throughout every stage of treatment.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Wang is a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating lung cancer primarily but also metastatic cancers of all types using advanced radiation therapy techniques. His clinical interests include stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), spatially fractionated radiation therapy (SFRT), low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT), and the integration of immunotherapy with radiation therapy.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Wang's research focuses on combining radiation therapy with immunotherapy. He is a DNA repair biochemist by training and is now focused on radiation–immune system interactions as an independent physician-scientist. Although radiation therapy and immunotherapy are increasingly used in combination, their biological interactions remain incompletely understood, and clinical responses vary widely across patients.

His long-term objective is to define the mechanistic basis of radiation-induced immune modulation and translate these findings into rational, mechanism-based combination strategies that improve patient outcomes. To accomplish this lifelong goal, he conducts both human and large-animal clinical trials in collaboration with the UC Davis Veterinary School to provide a longitudinal framework for understanding how immune responses evolve across anatomical compartments, while utilizing ever more sophisticated scientific tools like integrated spatial-omic and multi-compartment immune modeling.
