Maintenance activity: Campus-wide walk throughs for ERRCS testing

Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, UC Davis Health Facilities and IT will be supporting campus-wide Emergency Responder Radio Communication System (ERRCS) benchmark testing throughout the Sacramento campus.

The testing will be performed by HetNet Wireless, the Sacramento Regional Radio Communications System (SRRCS) authorized third-party testing vendor, to evaluate existing 800 MHz public safety radio coverage and Delivered Audio Quality (DAQ) throughout the campus. Testing is being conducted to support fire code compliance and future ERRCS planning activities.

During testing, a HetNet field engineer will:

• Walk through designated buildings performing radio signal measurements.

• Access occupied spaces, stairwells, mechanical spaces, Fire Command Centers, elevator lobbies and other life-safety areas as required.

• Perform non-invasive radio coverage and audio quality testing.

• Carry portable radio testing equipment and handheld instrumentation.

The HetNet engineer will be continuously escorted by Charles Voss (UC Davis Health IT Facilities) while on campus, including all patient care and restricted access areas requiring escort.

Testing activities are non-intrusive and will not interrupt normal hospital operations or building systems.

Personnel may observe technicians:

• Walking throughout occupied spaces.

• Temporarily accessing stairwells and equipment rooms.

• Performing radio transmissions using portable public safety radios.

• Entering clinical and support areas with appropriate escort and required infection control procedures.

Clinical operations, patient care and emergency response activities will always take precedence. Should patient care activities require temporary interruption of testing, work will be paused and rescheduled as necessary.

Walkthrough schedule:

• Monday, August 3: Davis Tower

• Tuesday, August 4: East Wing, Sherman Way Building, Cypress Building Annex

• Wednesday, August 5: University Tower, Patient Support Services Building (PSSB), Pathology Administration and Histology

• Thursday, August 6: Cypress Building, Parking Structure 1, Parking Structure 3, Police Building

• Friday, August 7: Behavioral Health Center, Children's Behavioral Health Center, North Addition Office Building (NAOB), Hospital Annex

Department managers and occupants of affected buildings may observe testing personnel throughout the scheduled workday. Areas requiring controlled access will be coordinated through UC Davis Health Facilities and departmental representatives as outlined in the project deployment plan.
