Wagging tails, happy hearts: Puppy Playtime draws a crowd
Sometimes the best medicine comes with four legs, floppy ears and a wagging tail.
More than 260 UC Davis Health employees recently lined up for the chance to spend a few minutes with puppies during Puppy Playtime, a popular wellness event presented in partnership with Althea Canines. The turnout was so strong that a long line of eager participants stretched through the hallway, yet every employee who attended had an opportunity to cuddle, play with and enjoy time alongside the puppies.
Throughout the event, employees from across the health system stepped away from busy schedules to connect with colleagues and experience the simple joy of puppy companionship. Conference rooms quickly filled with laughter, conversation and plenty of puppy cuddles as participants held, petted and posed with the young dogs.
The event offered more than just adorable photo opportunities. It provided employees with a chance to pause, recharge and engage with coworkers in a relaxed setting. From clinical staff arriving in scrubs to employees from administrative and support teams, Puppy Playtime brought together people from across UC Davis Health around a shared experience.
Many attendees spent their time cradling sleepy puppies, snapping photos with colleagues and sharing stories while waiting for their turn. Others simply enjoyed a few quiet moments with a puppy resting comfortably in their arms.
The overwhelming response highlights the value of employee wellness and engagement activities that encourage connection, support well-being and create memorable experiences.
As the photos show, Puppy Playtime delivered plenty of smiles along with a welcome opportunity to de-stress during the workday.
UC Davis Health extends its thanks to Althea Canines for helping make the event possible and to the more than 260 employees who participated in making Puppy Playtime such a memorable success.
