Partnerships and Collaborations

Community Health Scholars (CHS) partners with organizations throughout Northern California to provide immersive, community-based learning experiences that advance health equity and prepare future physician leaders. Through service, advocacy, and clinical experiences, students engage with communities and organizations addressing the social drivers of health.

Community-Based Learning Partners

The following community partners are integrated throughout the CHS curriculum and provide diverse opportunities for medical students to learn alongside the communities they serve.

Community-Based Elective Experiences

The following community collaborations provide immersive, hands-on experiences in primary care, harm reduction, family support, and care for underserved communities through CHS elective courses.

Providing clinical experiences across a variety of settings serving vulnerable populations.

  • Primary Care Clinic — Comprehensive primary care services for underserved populations. 
  • Pediatric Circle Clinic — Pediatric-focused care for children with complex health needs. 
  • Refugee Health Clinic — Healthcare and resources for recently arrived refugees. 
  • Loaves and Fishes Clinic — On-site healthcare for individuals experiencing homelessness. 
  • Complex Care Clinic — Coordinated care for individuals with multiple chronic health conditions. 

Providing opportunities for community engagement, advocacy, and family support.

  • Sacramento Children’s Home Resource Centers —Resources and support for vulnerable families and children.
  • Safer Alternatives thru Networking and Education (SANE) —Harm reduction education and services that support improved health outcomes.
  • Wellspring Women’s Center – Children’s Corner —Early childhood learning and support while parents access services.
