My philosophy is centered on empathic listening and providing clear information to patients and their families. This means listening without judgment and meeting my patients and their families at their level of understanding. Requiring hospital care for neurological conditions can be very stressful, and I take this into account as I approach my patients with respect and empathy. I recognize the special privilege of caring for individuals during their most difficult moments.
Dr. Ahmad is a neurologist with fellowship training in both vascular neurology and headache medicine. She sees adult patients hospitalized for general neurological conditions and vascular neurological conditions including stroke. She has experience in academic medicine as an educator and researcher with special interests in diversity/equity/inclusion.
Dr. Ahmad has an academic portfolio including experience in research, medical education, and clinical care (in two subspecialties, headache and vascular neurology) with an emphasis on diversity/equity/inclusion. She has published on a variety of topics from adverse childhood experiences in people with migraine, to experiences of microaggressions among women physicians, also serving as a reviewer for several journals. As a medical educator, she enjoys teaching and working in leadership roles to design and improve education initiatives.
