Construction update: Normal traffic patterns restored to 45th, 48th, X and Y Streets on August 2
(SACRAMENTO)
UC Davis Health is pleased to announce that, effective Sunday, August 2, the temporary traffic control measures implemented to support the Central Utility Plant Annex (CUPx) underground utility work will be removed, and normal traffic patterns will be restored.
Since August 2025, temporary one-way traffic patterns have been in place around the Sacramento Campus to facilitate construction activities safely. With this phase of work now complete, campus roadways and traffic operations will return to their original configuration.
What is changing?
Beginning Sunday, August 2, 2026:
X Street between 45th Street and 48th Street will reopen to normal eastbound and westbound traffic.
48th Street between X Street and Y Street will reopen to normal northbound and southbound traffic.
45th Street will fully reopen to public traffic.
The traffic signal at 45th Street and X Street will return to normal signalized operation.
The traffic signal at 48th Street and X Street will return to normal signalized operation.
The traffic signal at Parking Structure 5 (PS5) will return to flashing red operation.
The Comprehensive Cancer Center cell phone waiting area along X St will be re-established.
Traffic control personnel and assistance at 45th Street and X Street, as well as 48th Street and X Street, will be removed.
Traffic control personnel and assistance will remain at the main hospital entrance, as well as the CA Tower construction delivery lane at the north side of X Street and 45th Street.
Pedestrian traffic in the area will return to normal operations.
What do I need to do?
Please be aware that traffic patterns will change beginning Sunday, August 2. Drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and shuttle riders should use caution as everyone adjusts to the restored roadway configuration.
