Research Administration
The Research Administration unit provides pre-award support, contract and policy guidance, and research administration resources to School of Medicine departments and centers.
2024–2025 Accomplishments
Scaling to Meet Demand
- Added research administration staff to support increasing department demand for pre-award services.
- By end of FY2025, the staff were operating at +90% capacity, preparing 271 proposals for 12 departments/units
- Developed an hourly recharge rate and launched invoicing via Stratacore PPMS
- Conducted outreach with CAOs and research leadership groups.
Streamlining Processes
- Implemented intake and exit surveys used for pre-award services and space funding assessments.
- Automates communication, assigns backups, prevents missed proposals.
- Enhances team efficiency and reporting capabilities
Space Funding Assessment
- In collaboration with Research Operations unit, developed a multilayered assessment model using a custom Tableau dashboard, National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Cayuse data and custom reporting templates. First full pilot report has been submitted to the department for review.
Collaborative Initiatives
- Conducted outreach with CAOs across the School of Medicine and presented to START and the Committee of Research Affairs.
- Presented to the Research Administrator Director Committee about centralized service model and pre-award training.
- Strengthened inter-school collaboration and elevated research administration practices.
- Managed the School of Medicine Research Space Advisory Committee.
