Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
Training Objectives
The child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship is designed to equip trainees with the clinical experience, knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide exceptional psychiatric care to children and their families.
- Gain experience as both a direct care provider and an effective consultant
- Deliver medically sound and ethically informed care within complex systems of care
- Build effective interpersonal communication and leadership skills
- Develop lifelong learning habits for continued growth as a child psychiatrist
Fellows are taught to apply a developmental perspective to clinical care.
Understand and utilize:
- Child development principles
- Family functioning dynamics
- Biological determinants of behavior
- Psychodynamic principles
- Cultural and social influences on children’s lives
- Work directly with a diverse population of patients and families
- Gain experience across a wide range of clinical settings and levels of care
